rebel's enthusiasm was fading. it has carried them 150 miles westward along the coast, leading the troops back away. now their supply lines are stretched. his troops are starting to fight on more friendly territory. yesterday, we went with the rebels to the next town that they attacked fiercely. this morning, when we went up, we found that the rebels had faded away during the night. from a distance, we sought a checkpoint that we decided was probably manned by loyalists. it was. a couple of soldiers opened fire in our direction. >> keep your head down. >> we drove hastily down the road to the oil town captured by

the rebels on friday night. today, far fewer were making a stand here. they are transported all the way back here. [unintelligible] >> with the unrest continuing, the help of those fleeing as well as those still inside the country. there are concerns about sanitation and the possibility of disease. the appeal covers a range of humanitarian means including shelter, food security, and health care. it is based on projections of 400,000 people could leave libya. it is also estimated that a further 600,000 people inside libya might need help. >> it requires 160 million u.s. dollars to achieve its objectives. it will be revised in about two weeks to reflect the evolving situation. >> the french warship has arrived in geneva.

they demanded jobs, political reform, and a crackdown on corruption. that has been the place. president obama has approved of the resumption of guantanamo bay in cuba. the facility that president obama vowed to close will operate for some time to come. the correspondent in washington says president obama may have had the option to change the policy. >> this is president obama accepting political reality. there has been a lot of opposition to the idea of closing down guantanamo bay. also, the white house has found it very difficult to persuade countries from where the detainees have come from to take

them back. there is the issue that some of them may have been tortured and they would concern -- and there was concern as to how they would be treated. all these things put together has made the white house industrialize that cannot follow through on its pledge. it is a humiliating climb down. they didn't even announce it at all. they put out a statement saying that the military tribunals that would have been suspended as part of the original order were going to resume. that meant that the prison camp will continue to stay open for the foreseeable future. >> still had, she was mexico's bravest woman. she has been sacked for abandoning her post. a woman has admitted killing her three young children.

it was on the grounds of the minister's possibility. she will be sentenced next month. >> seven months ago, she killed her three children and tried to kill herself. today, she came to court to admit her claims. she pled guilty to multiple homicide on grounds of the minister's possibility. the victims were luke and austin and cecilia. teresa broke down in tears as details she inflicted on her own children were set out in court. each child was stabbed repeatedly and died of stab wounds to the chest. the children's father appeared outside court in a statement was

read on his behalf. >> it was an overwhelming tragedy. i and my extended family love them dearly. they lived in the minds and hearts superior - -forever. -- forever. >> bid followed the breakdown of her marriage. she sent her children to early graves because she could not bear the thought of losing custody of them in the divorce courts. her lawyer said that she loved them too much. psychiatrists think that she suffers paranoia and other personality disorders that cause the woman who gave life to three children to cut those lives a short period -- lives short.

>> the have you with us, the headlines this hour. contemplating a possible military response to fighting in libya. president obama is introducing military charges despite the promise to close the prison camp at guantanamo bay. let's get more on the situation in libya now. they are asking how people there feel about foreign intervention. all over, there are postage is saying that no foreign intervention is needed. to help the people there, they are very clear about that. after several days, they attacked strongholds. the town that the rebels thought they captured for themselves, people are beginning to change their minds.

anybody that you care to ask here. why hasn't it been put in place already? >> a little earlier, i spoke to the director of the foreign- policy initiative and asked him what he thought washington should do now that all options are on the table? >> and the administration has been saying all options are on the table for quite some time. we are waiting and waiting, no one seems to be willing to take action. we need to be moving towards some sort of military intervention. in this way we can make sure the regime and doesn't move against the rebels. >> they talk about this decision regarding a no-fly zone for some weeks.

do they not want to be tied into another case in the middle east in terms of military intervention? >> i think there is a concern about being overextended, and certainly the department here in the u.s. has been probably the most reticent about pursuing a no-fly zone. the fact of the matter is, if president obama comes out like he did today, he is going to need to back that up with some sort of military action. some effort to limit the ability of the regime is probably the most limited form of intervention that the allies should be able to carry out, it goes to a resolution. not very clear that they will get it from the likes of russia and china. the you think the u.s. will now seek a nato mandate?

>> i don't think the u.n. security council resolution is required. they are not likely to support such a measure. previous cases where the u.s. worked with nato allies -- even several allies, it would be justified. we have a mass humanitarian casualties here and deaths increasing on a daily basis. >> the u.s. defense secretary robert gates is well-positioned for trips in afghanistan in july. they apologized for the accidental killing, they called it a tragedy.

the decision they said was inevitable. >> said there was bizarre behavior over the last few weeks, appearing on breakfast shows, seemingly incoherent ramblings and criticizing the show's management. his language has been very colorful at times, he has been on the internet, he launched his own show that was largely criticized as well. his ramblings seem to get more intense as the days have gone by. no surprise that this should happen in the last few hours, warner brothers television issuing this statement that they have terminated the services immediately and released a letter in which they described him as being very ill.

>> it is a massive television program, isn't it? >> although last week, they decided to stop production on the show because of the charlie sheen situation. of the people that work on it and presumably the market are well aware that it was in limbo. it is very much a? -- a question mark since he's such an integral part of teh he show. people in hollywood rely on the show for their livelihoods. >> [unintelligible] >> he is known to have trouble with drugs in the past. he was involved in an altercation with his estranged wife. he was sentenced to drug

rehabilitation and anger management. he claims now to be free of drugs, although his behavior is still extremely bizarre. >> she shot to worldwide fame. she was the only person willing to take the job in the center of the deadly drug war. after failing to return to work, she has been fired. >> when she stepped into the role, many thought she was the most courageous woman in mexico. the former criminology student appears to have abandoned her post. she leaves behind an empty desk. local reports said that she was the victim of death threats.

it would be no surprise in an area where officials are routinely murdered. it didn't seem to bother her six months ago. >> i have never thought about if i am here today and not tomorrow. if i am here today, i am going to do what has value. >> at the family home, there has been no sign of her last week when she opted to leave to care for her sick baby son. she might have fled to the united states to seek asylum after not being able to get a hold of her. the mayor fired her. >> after removal, when the time comes, we will analyze the different paths, but not for this position. >> she leaves behind a policy that was in stark contrast to president calderon.
